Liz and Paul


We have been married for a little over two years. Liz grew up in the Boston area, and although originally Paul is from Minnesota, he has spanned several cities in his adult life including Atlanta, Seattle and Dallas. That said, we both love the greater Boston area and knew this was where we wanted to buy our next home.

We both work in the tech industry. Liz is Manager at Akamai Technologies where her team oversees all aspects of the product launch lifecycle for their Global Services and Support Division. Paul is a Senior Manager at Verizon in Network Capital, where his team specializes in applied mathematical modeling and data science.

We absolutely love to travel. We were lucky enough to be able to travel to Belize earlier this year right before COVID hit, exploring the rainforest, beaches, and Mayan ruins. In the past few years we have visited Thailand, China, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, France, Panama and Costa Rica. We love to travel so much that we decided to travel for our elopement in Wales where we got married under a beautiful old tree outside of a 14th century castle.

When we are at home we love to spend time with our pets. We have a fortuitous cat Kali and a happy-go-lucky Goldendoodle Monty who both keep us active and entertained. We also love to host family and friends which we were excited about when searching for our next home.

Why did you decide to buy a home?

We decided to buy a home for a number of reasons, but the primary one being that we needed more space. We also wanted to buy a single-family-home that we could really make our own. Monty is also incredibly energetic and loves to play outside so we wanted to buy a home with a yard that he could run in and we could enjoy together.

   

 

Why did you choose MAProperties?

MA Properties Online caught our attention with their data-driven approach. Paul is a data scientist by training so that helped hook us in. It was clear from the brochures and website that MA Properties are top in the industry and had the data to help back this up. After we met Dani, Wenjen, and the team, we knew it was a great fit for us.

 

What surprised you the most about the buying process?

We were both surprised at how fun and how much easier the home buying process is with the right agent. We did not have a positive home buying process when we bought our condo so we were anxious about starting the process again. Lucky for us, our first showing with Wenjen helped put us at ease. Wenjen took the time to get to know us, what we were looking for in our next home and how to guide us along the right place. She was able to add great insights in each home we toured. Wenjen is also incredibly funny, and had us laughing even while touring houses in masks and gloves during COVID.

 

What is the most challenging part of the buying process?

The competition and low inventory of the market was the most challenging part. When we first started our house search, there were very few houses on the market, which made for a very competitive environment.

What was the best part of your Buying Experience?

Working with Wenjen was by far the best part. Her insights and effort to go the extra-mile landed us in the home of our dreams. We believe that without Wenjen’s strategy and insights, we would not have had the winning offer for our house. We enjoyed working with Wenjen so much that we were a little sad after our offer was accepted because we knew our weekends with Wenjen touring houses were coming to a close. We feel so lucky to have Wenjen as our agent and could not imagine going through this process with anyone else. She is the best!

   

 

What is your top buying tip?

Listen to your agent and be patient - there is the right home for you out there (advice we learned from Wenjen!). We learned so much when working with Wenjen. Her recommendations and insights were always spot on. She encouraged us to be patient and was so optimistic that the perfect house would come our way. And it did!
